Spunlite Limited | Comege Jib Cranes
The Requirement:
Spunlite is New Zealand’s number one manufacturer and supplier of Pole Solutions. With over 55 years of experience in the design, manufacture, and supply of pole solutions they have become New Zealand’s number one pole manufacturer, offering standard and customised solutions of the highest quality.
They needed to find a way to reduce the downtime staff were experiencing whilst waiting for the large overhead gantry crane to transport materials to their welding stations. They wanted a localised solution to lifting the equipment.
The Challenge:
The biggest challenge faced was that they did not want to cut in to the floor to lay further foundations and no equipment could be mounted to the building walls as they were not strong enough to hold the weight.
The Solution:
After reviewing the customers requirements we designed and implemented 3 Comege column Jib cranes that spanned over two welding stations.
The bases featured oversized plates to allow them to be safely bolted down to the existing floor slap. The final project work was signed off by a CPEng.
In the video below three large Comege Jib Cranes are being loaded on to the freight truck to be sent across country to Spunlite Limited. This shows the scale of the jib cranes and a tidy solution to overcome mounting concerns.
