Mauri / Weston Milling – Vacuum Lifter
The Requirement:
Mauri / Weston Milling is a division of George Weston Foods Limited (GWF). GWF owns and operates flour mills and feed mills in Australia and New Zealand. Weston Milling Stockfeed specialises in the manufacture of pelletised ruminant and monogastric stockfeed from its separate mills located in Rangiora, North Canterbury, New Zealand.
They found that due to health and safety of their staff, they had to find a solution to remove the manual handling of 25kg bags of products from pallets to a mixing auger.
The Challenge:
The biggest challenge they had was that the bags were manufactured from a variety of materials including paper, plastic and plastic hessian. This meant that a viable solution to manage different materials needed to be found.
The Solution:
Stratalign Limited supplied a floor mounted Jib Crane coupled to a Fezer Vacuum Tube Lifter with a unique suction head and sealing skirt to cater for the diverse range of bag surfaces.
This allowed Mauri / Weston Milling to switch between different bag materials seamlessly and reduce the physical stress on staff to constantly move these heavy bags of product.
